# Dachwerk

> Dachwerk is a roof framing and rafter calculator app for Android (Google Play, free with an optional one-time Pro purchase). From a few measurements it works out every rafter with its length and cuts, draws the roof to scale, writes the cut list and the timber order, and produces the quote and invoice for the customer. ## How it works

1. Pick the roof shape and enter the building: length, width, wall height, roof pitch, eave and verge overhangs, timber sizes and maximum rafter spacing.
2. Dachwerk draws the roof in 3D, plan and section to scale. Tap any rafter on the drawing for its length and cuts; tap a measurement to jump to the field that sets it.
3. The cut list numbers every piece (the same numbers as on the drawing). Every jack rafter is listed at its own length, not as a range, with quantity and spacing.
4. The timber order packs the pieces onto the stock lengths a timber merchant sells, counts the saw kerf and shows the expected offcut, ordered by section size. At the saw, the cutting plan is ticked off one piece at a time.
5. The quote prices timber, waste, labour and VAT straight from the roof, on the firm's own letterhead with logo, optionally with a 3D or plan drawing of the roof. Own items come from a price book; price book lines can be tied to roof measures (area, eaves, ridges, hips, valleys) and counted from the roof. The invoice takes the customer and items over from the quote. Both are sent as PDF by email or messenger, or printed.
6. Every job is its own project with a stage (draft, sent, accepted, done), notes and site photos.

## More than a rafter table

A rafter table gives a length per metre of run and leaves the rest to the user. Dachwerk gives the common rafter, every jack rafter at its own length, the cut angles, the pitch, the roof area and the timber order, and recalculates everything the moment a measurement changes.

## Free and Pro in detail

Free, forever and without limit: the calculator, all roof shapes, all drawings, the cut list on screen and as PDF, the timber order and cutting plan, plain-text sharing, the business letterhead (name, logo, address) on every document, and all pricing fields (material, labour, waste, VAT, currency).

Metered: only the clean quote. The first three roofs (projects) get quotes exactly as Pro sends them. From the fourth roof, quotes and invoices still go out, but with a one-line "Created with Dachwerk" credit at the foot. Re-sending an earlier project never uses up the allowance.

Pro (one purchase, not a subscription; price shown by Google Play in local currency): quotes and invoices with no Dachwerk line, the roof drawn on every quote, price book lines counted from the roof, unlimited roofs.
